When is a typo not a typo?
In the wor(l)d of Ulysses

Es gibt literarische Werke die man nicht verbessern sollte. Wortspiele können von bewußt gesetzten "Fehlern" leben und sterben, wenn man diese korrigiert. So sollte man etwa in den Werken des irischen Schriftstellers James Joyce bei einem Fehler immer erst einmal davon ausgehen, dass es ein bwußt gesetztes Stilmittel ist. Allerdings wurden seine Werke mittlerweile sehr oft abgeschrieben "verbessert" und wieder "korrigiert" und selbst von James Joyce selbst nachträglich verändert, dass heute kaum noch zu entscheiden ist, welche Fassung seiner Werke die (annähernd) "richtige" ist.
