La France demande à la Serbie de s’abstenir d’appeler à l’organisation d’élections municipales au Kosovo. Une telle décision entrerait en contradiction avec la résolution 1244/99 du Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies et avec la réalité d’un Kosovo indépendant depuis 2008, en conformité avec le droit international (avis de la CIJ du 22 juillet 2010).

Der Kosovo unterteilt sich in die zwei Weinbaubereiche Juzni und Severni. Die Weinberge umfassten vor dem Krieg rund 10.000 Hektar Rebfläche. Hier wurden vor allem die Sorten Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Pinot Noir und Riesling kultiviert, von denen ausgezeichnete Rotweine gekeltert werden. An der Grenze zu Albanien wächst der bekannte Markenwein Amselfelder (Kosovsko Vino).

Namen und Etymologie

„Kosovo“ bezeichnet in der Regel das Gesamtgebiet. Auch im Serbokroatischen wird Kosovo bedeutungsgleich gebraucht. Daneben wird von nationalbewussten Serben die Bezeichnung "Kosmet", eine Wortkombination aus "Kosovo" und "Metochien", parallel verwendet.

"Kos" bezeichnet im Serbokroatischen die "Amsel". Die Region ist nach dem "Amselfeld" (serbisch: "Kosovo Polje", albanisch: "Fushë Kosovë") bei Priština, benannt. Das Wort "kosovo" ist ein besitzanzeigendes Adjektiv ("zur Amsel gehörig") und daher ohne zusätzliches "polje" ("Feld") eigentlich unvollständig. Die Abkürzung hat sich jedoch in dieser Form eingebürgert.

Die Bezeichnung "Metochien" für den "Westen Kosovos" leitet sich vom griechischen "metochí", "Klostergut" ab. Dieser Name, der eine von vielen Kirchen und Klöstern geprägte Landschaft beschreibt, wurde in Jugoslawien ab 1974 von staatlicher Seite nicht mehr verwendet. Die Kosovo-Albaner nennen diese Region "Dukagjini" bzw. "Rrafshi i Dukagjinit".

"Dardanien" bzw. "Dardania" ist unter Albanern eine verbreitete historisierende Bezeichnung für den Kosovo. Sie leitet sich vom antiken illyrischen Volk der "Dardaner" ab, die im Gebiet des heutigen Kosovos lebten. Sie umfasste das heutige Territorium Kosovos und ferner einige Gebiete im Süden Serbiens sowie in Mazedonien. Im Oktober 2000 präsentierte der spätere Präsident Ibrahim Rugova seinen Vorschlag für eine zukünftige Flagge des Kosovo. Auf ihr befand sich ein Spruchband mit der Bezeichnung "Dardania", die Rugova als Landesnamen eines unabhängigen Kosovos vorschlug.
