Melanie started this page in 1994, and at that time it was known as The Logical World of Etymology. She met Mike through their mutual interest in etymology, and now they collaborate on the site, which they renamed Take Our Word For It in 1997, and which is now an endeavor of the Institute for Etymological Research and Education.
