cocooning (W3)
Engl. "cocooning" wurde 1981 von der amerikanischen Futuristin und Marketingberaterin Faith Popcorn eingeführt. Sie bildete das Verb "cocooning" zu dem bereits vorhandenen Substantiv "cocoon" = "Kokon", "Puppe", "Gespinst", "Schutzhülle". Mit der aktiven Verbform "to cocoon" (im Gegensatz zu "to be cocooned") bezeichnete sie "creating a safe place around you". "It is the need to protect oneself from the harsh, unpredictablerealities of the outside world".
Sie führte gleich drei verschiedene Formen von Cocooning ein:
- "social cocooning", "home cocooning" - Rückzug in die Privatsphäre.
- "wandering cocooning" - das Abschirmen in der Öffentlichkeit mit Hilfe von Musikgeräten
- "armoured cocooning" - network firewalls or home security
In Anlehnung daran wurden weiter Kombinationen gebildet wie "uber-cocooning" oder "tele-cocooning".
